History of the Fitzgerald Inc. Company

1959 Fitzgerald Inc. originated in 1959 in Strawberry Point, Iowa with two employees, JP (Pat) Fitzgerald and his wife, Arlys.
1962 The Fitzgerald’s moved to Elkader and the business was run out of their home.
1971 The business moved to 104 First Street in downtown Elkader.
1994 JP Fitzgerald Inc. acquired territory in Grant and Crawford counties in Wisconsin and this area was serviced out of the Elkader location.
1996 In the fall of 1996, Waltz Surge, a Surge dealership in Boscobel, WI was acquired, consisting of additional territory and three employees.
1997 In the spring of 1997, in order to centralize its location, that dealership was moved to Fennimore, WI .
1998 On January 1, 1998, Pat & Arlys sold JP Fitzgerald Inc. to his son, Mike, and his wife Kristin, and a long standing employee, Al Prier and his wife, Joyce. In August of 2000, JP Fitzgerald Inc. acquired more territory but this time to the north.
2000 In August of 2000 a store location was set up in Cresco, IA.
2005 In June of 2005, construction began on a new facility in Elkader. The 14,000 square foot building houses the accounting and administrative offices as well as warehousing for chemical, parts, and equipment for the entire business.
2007 The business relocated into the new facility in Feb of 2007 and changed it’s company name to Fitzgerald Inc.
Today At the present time Fitzgerald Inc employs twenty people in three store locations, Elkader, IA – Fennimore, WI – and Cresco, IA. The company serves approximately 800 customers and has 13 trucks on the road. The area served includes: south to Cedar Rapids, IA, north to Chatfield, MN, west to Manly, IA and east to Dodgeville, WI. Fitzgerald Inc. prides themselves on their 24 hour technical service, monthly route sales and service, parlor design & installation, and stainless steel fabricating.
